The 2025 Halloween Celebration at Olene Walker Elementary created a safe, culturally sensitive, and family-friendly space for refugee children to experience the joy of the holiday. Designed specifically for children aged 0-8, the event combined fun with meaningful support by offering developmental games, preschool resources, and online educational tools. Children enjoyed face painting, engaging activities, and the excitement of receiving costumes so they could fully join the season’s festivities. By removing gory elements, the celebration prioritized joy, safety, and inclusion, ensuring refugee families felt welcome and supported. Special thanks to Waterford Upstart for partnering in this celebration.
